About me

I've always worked within the 'arty' industry and have done lots of different things, including window dressing for Myer in various stores all over Australia. I've made salad rolls and served hot pies to tradies on building sites, and become adept at embroidery design for corporate wear. I've written and designed national awards events presentations, designed menus, hand-made table centre-pieces, run the craft stall at my children's school fete, designed mouse-mats, sold lighting, mastered MYOB and invoicing, and hand-painted craft items to sell at markets.

I was born and raised in Canberra, and moved to Queensland in the mid eighties. I've raised three awesome kids and have been married to my amazing, patient, husband for 23 years. I've built a house or two, renovated one, recently cared for my aging parents, am a Reiki practitioner, love yoga and meditating, and drove the same old car for 21 years without air-conditioning. Oh, and I'm learning to sing! Why? Because it makes me happy, and I love to be happy!

While my husband trekked his way over the Kokoda Track - twice - I trekked my way through a BA Uni degree in Communications, Marketing and Design, graduating in 2003. Since then I have worked as a graphic designer and communicator in the advertising and design industry on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. I've been blessed to work with some great local designers, continually learning new skills and advancing my knowledge, even reluctantly dipping my toe into html and php coding.

Over the last few years, I've noticed that there's a big hole in the communications market, especially for website copy.

Here's a typical scenario from a designer's perspective: A client would ask our studio to design their website, so we would and we'd make it look great. We'd develop the code ready to launch online (well, not me exactly - told you I'm reluctant when it comes to web coding), and then the client would realise that they didn't have any content and weren't sure what to write. It's not easy writing about your own stuff! As a result, I've had some experience writing web copy, as well as brochure, e-book and advertising text, and I love it!

I've always loved words. I love how words look, I'm pedantic about how they're spelled (or spelt), punctuation, grammar, and sound. Web and print communication are all about the words and the tone. Sure, your website and marketing material should be well designed and look attractive and eye-catching (I'd love to help you with that too), but it's meaningless and empty unless you back it up with powerful words.

So, that's me. If you'd like a chat or just want to send me an email, please do. I would love to help you build your business with the power of words and design.

Have a happy day,
